Day 1 - Thursday, August 26: Home Anchorage, Alaska (PANC)

We will meet in Anchorage - known as the City of Lights and Flowers – where Air Journey will greet you at the Anchorage Marriott.

In the afternoon there will be a meeting where all participants will attend a very detailed briefing covering the general procedures of our Journey. We will cover the route, regulations, flight plan, safety, weather, etc.

We will end the day with a welcome cocktail before dinner.

Day 2 - Friday, August 27 & Saturday, August 28: Anchorage, Alaska (PANC) → Anadyr, Russia (UHMA) → Petropavlovsk, Russia (UHPP) (900 + 910nm)

Fly to Petropavlovsk. We will cross the International Date Line, losing a day en route. We will have a technical stop in Anadyr before continuing to Petropavlovsk, Russia.

Day 4 - Sunday, August 29: Petropavlovsk, Russia (UHPP) → Sapporo, Japan (RJCC) → Tokyo, Japan (RJTT) (915 + 440nm)

Fly to Tokyo, Japan, where we will transfer to our hotel. Situated in the top six floors of the Otemachi Tower, the Aman offers magnificent views of the Imperial Palace Gardens and Mount Fuji.

You will be just steps away from the bustle and boutiques of Ginza, the historic commercial hub of the Edo period, Nihonbashi, and the buzzing Shibuya district and sky-scrapers of Shinjuku.

A full-day city tour is on the schedule offering the major highlights of the city. We will select the most “must see” sights for our tour.

Fly to Okinawa - perhaps the absolute contrast of Tokyo’s sprawling megalopolis. With a skyline marked by gently swaying palm trees and where the biggest light show is when the sun sets.

We will settle into a slower pace of life and take the time to enjoy the enchanting views.

Day 8 - Thursday, September 2: Okinawa, Japan

Enjoy a half-day city tour with our local guide. Visit the 500-year-old stone gate to Shurijo Castle, a designated World Heritage site and former home of the Okinawan Royal Family and the former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters (Kyukaigun Shireigo). This is where the Japanese Navy, under Rear Admiral Ota, took its last stand in the Battle of Okinawa. A system of
underground tunnels stretching 1,475 ft. and built by civilians using shovels and pickaxes, it remains almost exactly as it was.

Fly to Siargao where we will transfer to the birthplace of Barefoot Luxury, Nay Palad Hideaway that nestles between ancient mangrove forests and the soft white sands of Siargao, in the Philippines.

We will explore the islands around the bay on a private catamaran and then move on to Daku for snorkeling and surfing. Watch colorful tropical fish darting through the clear waters! We will stop for a delicious grilled seafood lunch on the beach.

Fly to Sandakan where we will experience the nature and wildlife city of Sandakan Borneo. The Four Points by Sheraton is strategically located at the heart of Sandakan town and overlooks the Sandakan Bay.

Day 14 - Wednesday, September 8: Sandakan, Malaysia

Today we will visit the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre where we will encounter Orangutans in their natural habitat. The reserve is named after the two rivers that flow into the Sandakan Bay. The aim of the Centre is to return orphaned, injured, or displaced orangutans back to the wild.

Day 17 - Saturday, September 11: Sumbawa, Indonesia

The turquoise waters and pristine reefs of the Flores Sea are home to some of Indonesia’s best scuba diving and snorkelling spots, many within ten minutes of Amanwana.
 
On land, the hilly tropical forests are crisscrossed by hiking trails, home to the island’s protected deer, macaques and wild boar.

Fly to Darwin, Australia.

Overlooking Darwin Harbour, Hilton Darwin offers fabulous Esplanade views and an ideal location in the heart of the city. Day 20 - Tuesday, September 14: Darwin, Australia (YPDN) → Cairns, Australia (YBCS) to Lizard Island, Australia (905nm)

Fly to Cairns. We will park our planes and take a charter flight from Cairns to Lizard Island (airfare not included).

We will continue to Lizard Island, the most northerly island resort located directly on the Great Barrier Reef. Voted one of the top ten island resorts in the world, it is renowned for spectacular fishing and world famous diving opportunities.

There will be time for afternoon tea and visit the 'Beach Club' to be personally fitted with fins, mask & snorkel for the duration of your stay. The hotel offers complimentary use of motorized dinghies, paddle skis, sailboards, glass bottom boat trips, as well as many island activities.

Experience an island so untouched that when you walk one of the twenty-four secluded beaches there are no other footprints. Enjoy the reef and crystal blue water surrounding the island and explore the Lizard Island terrain with scenic nature walks across the island.

This morning there will be a Guided Natural Walking Tour where our guide will share the secrets of Lizard Island with you. Discover more about the history, fauna and flora of Lizard Island.

Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch on a secluded beach. Spend time exploring, snorkeling and enjoying your magnificent surroundings.

Later we will transfer to the Research Station via glass bottom boat or 4WD, dependent on the tide, to meet one of the Directors of the Island's Research Centre for an exclusive behind the scenes tour.

After your tour at the Research Station you will enjoy an intimate cruise along the beaches with uninterrupted views of a glorious Lizard Island sunset (weather permitting).

Day 22 - Thursday, September 16: Lizard Island, Australia

Enjoy an outer reef trip, including on-board lunch. Visit to two spectacular sites (subject to tides) which may include the world famous Cod Hole, where you will have a chance to interact with a magnificent array of fish whilst they are being fed by your guide. Whether you choose to snorkel or dive, it is sure to be an experience you will remember for a lifetime.

This morning we will take our charter flight from Lizard Island to Cairns (airfare not included) and fly to Brisbane.

Brisbane is the capital city in the Australian state of Queensland. Today we will go for a city tour of Brisbane.

Travel to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to a place where unique flora and fauna thrive, Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Here our local guide will reveal the many attributes of this diverse environment and describe the cultural significance of Kata Tjuta as a sacred Aboriginal men's ceremonial site.
 
Arriving at Walpa Gorge you will walk between the mighty conglomerate domes and hear how these 36 domes that make up Kata Tjuta have evolved over millions of years.
 
Take time to listen to the wind (Walpa) far above and view the scale of the rock walls that surround you. The spirituality of this amazing location embraces everyone who ventures here.

Experience the remarkable changing colors of the desert landscape and the spectacular sight of Uluru as day breaks over Australia’s heartland.
 
A walk to peaceful Mutitjulu Waterhole offers a unique insight into the sheer physical and spiritual enormity of Uluru. During the walk your guide will point out cave paintings and other relevant sites important to Anangu and the early explorers. They also share the Anangu creation story of Kuniya and Liru, adding greater depth to Uluru’s striking features.
 
To climb the world’s largest monolith is against the wishes of traditional owners because the path otherwise followed is the traditional route taken by their ancestral Mala (rufous hare-wallaby men) on their arrival at this sacred place.  A walk along the base offers a deeply personal, moving and lasting experience.

Fly to Perth – the largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. This capital is named after the city of Perth, Scotland and is Australia’s fourth most populous city.
 
Upon arrival, we will transfer to COMO The Treasury, housed in Perth’s 140 year old State Buildings, which form part of the Cathedral Square development located on the corner of St. Georges Terrace and Barrack Street.

Perth is rich in history and culture. Today we will go for a full-day city tour and explore the cosmopolitan lifestyle taking a walk through Kings Park. Visit the Fremantle, this rustic little town has numerous museums including the famous Fremantle prison and a home to Fremantle markets. On the way, we will get a chance to explore the area’s vineyards and meet the local winemaker.

Fly to Broome.

Enjoy the beauty, history and culture of Rome with our local guide. Discover the Eternal City starting at the Palatine Hill as we explore the city’s origins. Pass the Arch of Constantine to visit the mighty Colosseum (built in AD 80). There will be a stop at a local restaurant for lunch.

Then stop at the Campo de Fiori – one of Rome’s busy markets. Visit the Piazza Navona before we continue to the Pantheon with its large Corinthian columns. We will end the day with a stop at the Trevi Fountain.

Fly to Deauville where we will transfer to ‘The Château de Canisy’ located in Normandy, 45-minutes away from the beaches, Mount Saint Michel and from the town of Bayeux, is a remarkable national historic building in the middle of an 800-acre (300 hectares) park with ponds, forests and land. This was built by architect François Gabriel (the ancestor of Ange Gabriel who was the Versailles architect).

Day 64 - Thursday, October 28: Deauville, France

With local researchers we will visit around the neighborhood and explore the park and the nature reserve. The tour is a perfect complement to understanding the history of the D-Day invasion.

After lunch, we will practice archery at the Castle.

After an in-depth briefing, we will launch for our over-water crossing to Iceland.

Upon arrival in Reykjavik, we will transfer to the Hotel Borg where we will enjoy luxury accommodations in the very center of town. The Hotel Borg overlooks the beautiful square of Austurvöllur, and is situated across from Althingi, the Icelandic parliament and the cathedral.

Day 66 - Saturday, October 30: Reykjavik, Iceland (BIRK) → Kangerlussuaq, Greenland (BGSF) → Goose Bay, Canada (CYYR) → Bangor, Maine (KBGR) (730 + 870 + 610nm)

After breakfast and another in-depth briefing, we will head for Bangor. Our first technical stop is Kangerlussuaq for lunch and to refuel before taking our final overwater crossing and touching down on the North American continent in Canada for a second technical stop in Goose Bay before arriving in Bangor.
