Day 1 - Sunday, February 17: Stuart, FL → Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (695nm)

Air Journey will welcome you at Stuart's Witham Field Airport (KSUA) for a briefing before embarking on the first leg of our journey.

Fly to Puerto Plata located on the exotic north coast of the Dominican Republic. After a short transfer from the airport, you will discover our intimate, luxury resort for the next two days, the Casa Colonial Beach and Spa Resort - the ultimate, world-class seaside resort.

Day 2 - Monday, February 18: Puerto Plata → Tobago (765nm)

Fly to Tobago. Here in the pristine natural beauty of Tobago, on the west coast of the island, on a hillside overlooking the Caribbean Sea is The Villas at Stonehaven, a tropical hideaway that borders a protected bird sanctuary situated on 260 acres of virgin forested hills.

Day 3 - Tuesday, February 19: Tobago

We’ll explore the local waters today on a private boat excursion. View an amazingly scenic coastline where waterfalls and rainforest meet the sea. Along the way watch for dolphins, sea turtles or manta-rays that occasionally greet us with a visit. Snorkel at many fantastic reefs. There will be a stop for lunch.

Day 4 - Wednesday, February 20: Tobago → Paramaribo, Suriname (480nm)

Fly to Paramaribo – the capital city of Suriname. The city center of Paramaribo is placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List of historical monuments due to its unique architecture. It is a diverse city consisting of carious population groups, cultures and religions.

Day 5 - Thursday, February 21: Paramaribo → Belem, Brazil (575nm)

Fly to Belem where we will transfer to the Golden Tulip hotel. 

Belem’s Old Town is characterized by vibrant and gentile façades ornamented with ceramic tile, true historical relics imported long ago from Europe, and narrow streets that give the impression that time has stopped there.

Day 6 - Friday, February 22: Belem → Salvador de Bahia, Brazil (915nm)

Fly to Salvador de Bahia, a beautiful historic town with a lot of character.

This charming city will give you a great understanding of the Brazilian culture. Your hotel in the middle of the old city is a perfect setting to enjoy your stay.

Day 7 - Saturday, February 23: Salvador de Bahia

On today’s tour we will discover the highlights of this beautiful city. The town’s historical Pelourinho district has UNESCO Cultural Heritage status and is a fascinating mix of colonial grandeur and African vibrancy.

Day 8 - Sunday, February 24: Salvador de Bahia → Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (660nm)

Fly to the exciting coastal city of Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival, transfer to the Copacabana Palace – situated in the heart of captivating Rio de Janeiro, an incomparable city in an equally unforgettable setting.

Day 9 - Monday, February 25: Rio de Janeiro

A  full day tour will show us the highlights of the city including a cable car ride to the top of Sugar Loaf, a climb to the foot of the Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) and to Ipanema, Copacabana and many other historical and spectacular sights.

Day 10 - Tuesday, February 26: Rio de Janeiro → Iguazu, Argentina (640nm)

Fly to one of the world’s most spectacular waterfalls: the Iguazu Falls. Situated within the Iguazu National Park, the Melia Iguazu offers spectacular views of the Iguazu Falls.

A UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and voted one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, the Iguazú Falls and Iguazú National Park's natural splendor and lush vegetation are a must-see. The falls extend over 8,858’, with over  260 waterfalls reaching 230’ high. 

The forests host hundreds of wildlife species, however, wildlife sightings are limited for most because many of the creatures are nocturnal - and those that are not are easily hidden by the dense rainforest growth. Still, you will spot a number of interesting wildlife species including colorful birds (such as toucans and parrots) and striking butterflies.

Day 11 - Wednesday, February 27: Iguazu

We’ll take a boat tour up-river through the canyon to the base of the falls to see the great horseshoe known as “Devil’s Throat”. Rainbows, blue sky, mist and profuse water punctuate this natural spectacle. View “The Three Musketeers” – the three main streams of the lower falls. You’ll get close enough for a quick and refreshing shower! 

The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or explore on your own.

Day 12 - Thursday, February 28: Iguazu → Buenos Aires, Argentina (585nm)

Fly to the beautiful city of Buenos Aires - capital of Argentina. Transfer to the Four Seasons hotel for our three nights stay. This is an ideal location to relax and enjoy great shopping.

Day 13 - Friday, March 1: Buenos Aires

We will take a morning tour to discover the elegant and cosmopolitan Buenos Aires including the Recoleta Cemetery (where Eva Peron rests), Plaza 5 de Mayo and the large Parisian type avenues that testify the city’s incredible past wealth.

Afterwards, we’ll stop for lunch at one of the charming bistros around the Recoleta area. 

The remainder of the day will be free to explore on your own and if you wish, indulge in some great shopping. 

This evening we will enjoy dinner and a Tango performance - a delight not to be missed!

Day 14 - Saturday, March 2: Buenos Aires

Today is free to explore this beautiful city on your own. 

Dinner is not included tonight so you may experience a typical local restaurant of your choce.

Day 15 - Sunday, March 3: Buenos Aires → Trelew, Argentina → El Calafate, Argentina (595 + 510nm)

Fly to El Calafate. There will be a technical stop in Trelew.

El Calafate is a small and picturesque town located in the southwestern tip of the Argentine Patagonia.

Day 16 - Monday, March 4: El Calafate to Torres del Paine National Park

Enjoy beautiful sightseeing along the way while we transfer to the Tierra Patagonia.

Located in the furthermost south of Chile, the hotel is surrounded by nature, in splendid isolation, overlooking Lake Sarmiento and the towering peaks of Torres del Paine National Park which was named a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978.

You’ll consult with the head guide at the beginning of your stay to select the best excursions for you, taking into account individual interests and fitness levels.

Day 17 - Tuesday, March 5: Torres del Paine

Today a choice of selected tours will be available to either explore the lakes and glaciers, enjoy several waterfalls, or hike on one of the many tranquil trails. Excursion options include walks, treks, horseback rides, bicycle rides and scenic tours.

Day 18 - Wednesday, March 6: Torres del Paine

Day 19 - Thursday, March 7: Torres del Paine to Puerto Natales → Puerto Montt, Chile (530nm)

Transfer back to El Calafate and fly to Puerto Montt – the capital of the Lake District. 

Situated on the on the shores of Llanquihue Lake (the largest lake in Chile), Puerto Varas was colonized by German settlers and is known for its German traditions, beer seafood, and natural scenery. The perfect cone of Osorno Volcano, the snow-capped peaks of Mt. Calbuco and Mt Tronador are visible from the lakefront.

Day 20 - Friday, March 8: Puerto Montt

While taking in incredible views of the surrounding lakes, mountains, and volcano, we’ll explore Petrohue Waterfall, the German city of Frutillar, and the City of Roses.

Day 21 - Saturday, March 9: Puerto Montt → Santiago, Chile (495nm)

Our flight will follow the rugged coast of Chile. Admire the peaks of the Andes and see the well-manicured slopes of Chile’s famous wine region and land in the sophisticated and very European city of Santiago.

Day 22 - Sunday, March 10: Santiago to Easter Island

Today we will take a commercial flight (5 hours of flight) to Easter Island (cost of round trip ticket not included). Two million years ago, deep geological changes and volcanic eruptions created the remote and insolated Easter Island.

This perfect triangle-shaped piece of land, at the center of the Pacific Ocean, is a fascinating outdoor museum of a mysterious ancient people. Without a doubt, Easter Island is a “must” to any traveler who wants to know and explore the hidden secrets of this incredible civilization.

Day 23 - Monday, March 11: Easter Island

Today we will explore Easter Island, one of the most isolated islands in the world but 1,200 years ago a double-hulled canoe filled with seafarers from a distant culture landed upon its shores.

Over the centuries that followed a remarkable society developed in isolation on the island. For reasons still unknown, they began carving giant statues out of volcanic rock. These monuments, known as “moai”, are some of the most incredible ancient relics ever discovered. The people of Easter Island called themselves the Rapa Nui. Where did they come from and why did they disappear? Science has learned much about the enigma of Easter Island but questions and controversies remain.

Day 26 - Thursday, March 14: Santiago

On our tour this morning, we will discover the highlights of Chile’s  capital.

The afternoon is free for shopping or to take an optional tour to the Maipo Valley wine district and a visit of the Vina Tarapaca Winery.

Day 27 - Friday, March 15: Santiago → Calama, Chile (660nm)

Fly to Calama, located 60 miles northwest of San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the desert, Valley of the Moon. 

We have selected our hotel Tierra Atacama, a deluxe hotel near San Pedro de Atacama, to enjoy excursions which will capture profound landscapes, natural events and inhabited places that bare the ingredients and surprises that make the experience unforgettable. Select your tours with the hotel (included).

Enjoy the casual and friendly ambiance at the hotel such as a seat in a private corner by one of the terrace fire pits, lounge next to the pool or relax on one of the shady outdoor decks.

When night falls, take in the brilliant stars, bask in the peace and wonder that is the Atacama Desert.

Day 28 - Saturday, March 16: Calama

Your tour guide will be available to help you select from numerous tours available including walking and hiking, biking, volcano climbing, horseback riding, bird watching, as well as excursions by vehicle to the more remote areas. Excursions include visits to remote lagoons, red rock formations, salt flats, volcanos, geysers, Moon Valley, petroglyphs, and small villages where you’ll meet local families.

In the evening, experience Astronomy in the starry desert! Tierra Atacama together with the Ahlarkapin Observatory offers an astronomy excursion that gives guests a unique chance to discover the southern skies while learning about its scientific and ancestral significance. First guests will observe the sky with the naked eye and later discover amazing visualizations through one of the largest private telescopes in the area to observe planets like Mars and Saturn.

Day 29 - Sunday, March 17: Calama

Over the Quitor hill, a short distance from San Pedro are the ruins of the Pukará (fortress), constructed by the atacameños to defend themselves from other inhabitants of South America. Built on the summit of a hill overlooking the San Pedro River, Pukara de Quitor is an ancient Indian fortress whose construction dates back to the XII century. It was declared a national monument in 1982.

Day 30 - Monday, March 18: Calama → Arequipa, Peru (400nm)

Fly to Arequipa (its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site) - known as the White City (Ciudad Blanca) due to its many colonial-era buildings made from sillar - a white volcanic rock. Its religious, colonial, and republican architectural styles blend European and native characteristics into a unique style called "Escuela Arequipeña".

Day 31 - Tuesday, March 19: Arequipa

Discover colonial Arequipa with our local guide who will introduce us to some of the city’s most important historical sites. Visit several districts including Cayma and Vallecito, and explore landmarks like the 17thcentury Recoleta Convent and the colonial-era Casa del Moral. Enjoy fabulous views of Arequipa and its spectacular scenery from the Carmen Alto viewpoint.

Day 32 - Wednesday, March 20: Arequipa → Trujillo, Peru (665nm)

Fly to Trujillo where we will transfer to the Moche Sanctuary Lodge.

Day 33 - Thursday, March 21: Trujillo

With our local guide we’ll explore the ancient world of the pre-Incan Moche and Chimu civilizations. We’ll visit the Temple of the Moon (Huaca de la Luna) to learn the history and significance of the terraced temple, built by the Moche out of adobe brick. Then we’ll visit Huaco el Dragon, the Temple of the Dragon, built for religious and ceremonial purposes by the Chimú people who lived in northern Peru from about 900 to the 1400s.

We’ll continue to Chan Chan, the former Chimú capital. This UNESCO World Heritage site is the largest pre-Columbian city in South America and was the center of Chimú political and cultural life from approximately 900 to 1470, when the Incas arrived and conquered the city.

Day 34 - Friday, March 22: Trujillo → Cali, Colombia → Cartagena, Colombia (715 + 415nm)

Fly to Colombia (there will be an technical stop in Cali, Colombia) for our visit to Cartagena, undeniably one of Latin America’s most beautiful cities lost somewhere in time between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, with the Caribbean sea as a sparkling backdrop.

Day 35 - Saturday, March 23: Cartagena

Enjoy a full day tour to experience Cartagena’s colonial charm with its tiled roofs, balconies and flower-filled courtyards and relive history in the old walled city, the Ciudad Amarullada, where we’ll explore the four sectors, each one with a peculiar story to tell: San Diego, La Matuna, Getsemani and Santo Domingo. The tour will include a walking tour and a city tour to enjoy the highlights of this beautiful city.

Day 36 - Sunday, March 24: Cartagena → Ocho Rios, Jamaica → Key West, FL (485 + 455nm)

As the end of the voyage is within reach, one must only look back thirty-six days to understand an accomplishment of a life time. Not only will you have circumnavigated an entire continent, but more importantly, you will have experienced all three of the ancient cultures, seen countless world wonders and enjoyed great accommodations, all while being escorted through bureaucratic troubles with would plague such an attempt without Air Journey’s assistance.

After a most extraordinary and unique lifetime adventure one could ever hope, we will make our way back to Key West, Florida, to clear US customs. There will be a technical stop in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
