Itinerary
Follow the rocky Atlantic coast over Acadia National Park, and fly over the Bay of Fundy to St. John to clear customs. We will then fly to St. Stephen and get settled for a cocktail and lodging in the beautiful town of St Andrews-by-the-Sea.
Enjoy the tranquility of the seashore and the invigorating air of the ocean. Here you will experience the world’s highest tides and inhale fresh salt air on a whale and wildlife watching tour on the Bay of Fundy. Finback, Minke and Humpback whales, porpoises, dolphins, and seals are regularly encountered on these trips.
Fly over the Southern part of the Gulf of St Lawrence, where you will see below an unusual sight of beautiful farmland and red soil. There will be time this afternoon to visit Historic Charlottetown on your own. Stroll the boardwalk (1.5 miles) that will take you along the shoreline from the shopping and restaurants at Peake's Quay to Charlottetown's biggest green space, Victoria Park.
Discover the “Birthplace of Canada”. Enjoy a half-day tour with a visit to historic downtown Charlottetown, PEI Preserves in New Glasgow, the quaint coastal fishing village of North Rustico and the famous PEI National Park - home of Cavendish and Anne of Green Gables.
The afternoon is at your leisure. Optional activities include kayaking, biking, seal watching, golfing, or taking an afternoon tour to discover the North Shore of Prince Edward Island.
Today we will fly to Sydney on Cape Breton Island. We’ll pick up rental cars at the airport for our visit here.
Situated high on a cliff surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, and with a view of majestic Cape Smokey rising out of the sea, the Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa is a prime location to explore the Cabot Trail. Enjoy Cape Breton Highlands National Park hiking trails, sea kayaking, mountain biking and more!
Enjoy the day exploring on your own. Meander along rolling hills overlooking breathtaking seascapes, discover the abundant flora and fauna of the Highlands, and experience the rich cultural heritage of this extraordinary destination!
Fly over the rugged granite coast of Nova Scotia, land of light houses. In Halifax we will check in at the Prince George Hotel, located in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the historic waterfront and surrounded by the city’s finest dining, shopping and entertainment. The Prince George offers 203 elegant guestrooms featuring mahogany furnishings, and combines contemporary elegance, gracious service and a prime location.
Step back in time to the days of the whalers. We’ll first enjoy a tour of the city to learn about its history. Then we’ll wander in the Maritime Museum, where you’ll see the stunning display of artifacts from the Titanic. Learn about a lesser-known maritime disaster, when an ammunition ship blew up and leveled the town.
Time to say goodbye for those returning home. You may want to spend more time here and take the Halifax Extension (see additional days).
Have a full day to discover Peggy’s Cove, Luneburg, and to visit more of Halifax. Halifax is the world’s second largest natural harbor after Sydney, Australia and site of the world’s premiere oceanographic research centers: The Bedford Institute of Oceanography. In Halifax, there are many things to do, but we recommend visiting the view from the Citadel and visiting the historic site at Pier 21, where nearly half a million troops departed in World War II and over a million immigrants first entered Canada. Be sure to save some time for the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where many relics of the Titanic are kept.
Follow the rugged and spectacular Atlantic, lined with lighthouses, before crossing the Gulf of Maine. The additional extension in Halifax is $285 per person, based on double occupancy
