Day 1 - Thursday, December 9: West Palm Beach, FL (KPBI) → Tikal, Guatemala (MGMM) 800NM
Air Journey will greet you this morning at West Palm Beach International Airport (KPBI) for our Journey launch to Tikal, Guatemala.
Upon arrival into Tikal, we will transfer to our quaint boutique hotel, Las Lagunas - an all-in-one hotel, museum and spa - surrounded by the richness of the jungle. Located within a private reserve, we will find ourselves in the heart of Maya world.
The rest of the day is at leisure to relax and settle into our new home.
This evening we will meet for a welcome cocktail prior to dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 - Friday, December 10: Tikal, Guatemala
Wake up to the sounds of the surrounding lush jungle. After breakfast, we will head out for a day of discovery. Tikal translates to "City of Echoes". It is one of the largest archealogical sites and urban centers of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. Situated in the department of El Peten, the site is part of Guatemala's Tikal National Park, which in 1979 was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Tikal is the best understood of any of the large lowland Maya cities, with a long list of dynasty rulers, the discovery of many of their tombs, monuments, temples, and palaces.
Once our time at the Tikal Ruins comes to an end, you are free to explore on your own or enjoy more of what the hotel has to offer. With five lagoons and Monkey Island located within one of those, there's a lot to take in.

Day 3 - Saturday, December 11: Tikal, Guatemala
Today we set out to explore Peten Itza. Our tour takes us by boat, on Lake Peten Itza, to visit the Biological Park Petencito, a sanctuary where one can find many local animals that have been confiscated from poachers. In the park you can see jaguars, crocodiles, deer, parrots, macaws, coatis, to name a few of the wildlife.
We continue to El Mirador del Rey Canek, located on the top of an archaeological site called "Tayasal" to see the best view of Peten Itza Lake from above, its islands, and provide the best photography spot for the island of Flores.
After taking in the site of the island of Flores from our vantage point, we will land on Flores Island to visit the area. The state capital of Peten, Flores island is now a very colorful city with colonial and Caribbean architecture, but before the arrival of the Spanish, it was the capital for the Maya Itza group and also the last Maya capital conquered.
This evening we will gather for our pilot briefing to review tomorrow's flight prior to dinner at the hotel.

Day 4 - Sunday, December 12: Tikal, Guatemala (MGMM) → Liberia, Costa Rica (MRLB) 385NM
After breakfast, we will transfer back to the airport for our flight to Liberia, Costa Rica, our next destination.
Upon arrival, we will transfer to Kasiiya Papagayo, a luxury wilderness retreat located on the Bay of Papagayo on an exclusive private peninsula in the Papagayo region. Kasiiya features two unique beaches and a total of seven handcrafted tented suites. SItuated amid 123 acres of forest, each suite connects you with nature, whether you want to relax beachside amid tropical forests or watch the fading rays of the sunset through the treetops from the comfort of your king-size bed. The area is home to whales, dolphins, rare birds, monkeys and thousands of other species.
The rest of the day is at leisure to settle into our new oasis.
Explore around the estate in solar-charged electric buggies. These silently transfer you to one of their three deserted sandy beaches, to the beach cabana, spa and wellness facility or up to the restaurant area, with its sunet terrace and library, or back to the privacy and seclusion of your suite.
This evening we will meet for a welcome cocktail before moving on to dinner on property.

Day 5 - Monday, December 13: Bay of Papagayo, Costa Rica
Today we will venture on a half day boat tour to explore the Gulf of Papagayo in hopes of encountering a sensational variety of marine life from manta rays to shark whales.
The rest of the day is at leisure.
The hotel provides complimentary use of sport facilities such as snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and trekking. Enjoy a long walk and experience the sounds from birds like the Turquoise Mot-Mot to the howling of Howler monkeys, wildlife that surrounds the Kasiiya property.

Day 6 - Tuesday, December 14: Bay of Papayago, Costa Rica
Today is free to relax and explore the beautiful wildlife around Kasiiya.
Optional activities available include scuba diving, surfing, ocean discovery, deep-sea fishing.
Kasiiya also has a fitness club. The wellness spa offers herbal treatments, natural scrubs and a wide range of massage therapies. Yoga classes can also be arranged.

Day 7 - Wednesday, December 15: Bay of Papagayo, Costa Rica
Today is at leisure to relax and explore the beautiful wildlife and foliage surrounding Kasiiya.
We will meet this evening for our pilot's briefing to review tomorrow's flight before our farewell dinner at Kasiiya Papagayo.

Day 8 - Thursday, December 16: Liberia, Costa Rica (MRLB) → West Palm Beach, FL (KPBI) 1,015NM
After breakfast, we will transfer back to Liberia International Airport for our flight home. For our west or central United States friends, a return through Brownesville, TX, instead of West Palm Beach, is possible.
