The flying will take us eastbound out of Quebec City, Canada over the North Atlantic to Europe, south to Northern Africa, east across the Middle East, Asia, Russia and then the North Pacific crossing through Alaska before heading back to our homes. With Thierry and Sophie’s continuous effort to find new and exciting destinations for their clients, we have added Prague, Czech Republic; Granada, Spain; Cappadocia, Turkey; Rhodes, Greece; Petra, Jordan; Langkawi, Malaysia; Kota Kinabalu, Borneo; Marinduque, Philippines; and Shanghai, China to our itinerary. This will surely be another spectacular, once in a lifetime adventure – one likely to bring us some challenges, occasional difficulties but one that will expand each participant’s horizon, solidify many friendships and bring a great sense of accomplishment!

Journey Around the World

The Round the World Journey was born from a dream shared by Thierry and Sophie 4 years ago.

Thierry, President of Air Journey, is an extraordinary and determined entrepreneur who simply loves flying. He combines his experience as a travel agent and pilot to organize Journeys to the Caribbean and Central America, South America, Galapagos, Alaska, Canada and across the Atlantic. He is seconded by his wife Sophie, a patient and dedicated travel agent who has the ability to negotiate some incredible deals with hotels and tour operators. They form an efficient team and routinely organize some fascinating journeys for Pilots, their spouses and friends.

Following the success of the South American and Transatlantic Journeys and the need to bring to Air Journey’s potential clients something quite exceptional – a coronation of a life of flying – Thierry dreamt up the idea of an Around the World Journey! During the 2007 Sun And Fun gathering Thierry announced the launch of the first Around the World (RTW) Journey for May 2008. Within a couple of days enough had signed up, quickly changing such an adventure from vagueness to something very concrete. From that day on, Air Journey’s expertise, under the leadership of Thierry, came into play for the selection of the destinations, hotels, excursions and sightseeing, and most importantly to secure all over-flight permits and authorizations, check on the availability of Avgas and jet fuel, means of payments and selection of handlers when required.

Now here we are, May 2010, ready to send off our second Around the World Journey! The total distance to be flown is to be about 25,000 nautical miles and will take the participants from the Maritimes Provinces of Canada, across the North Atlantic, over Europe, into North Africa, and over the Mediterranean before entering Asia in Istanbul. From there The Journey goes along the East Mediterranean and enters the Sinai Peninsula then to Luxor before crossing the deserts of the Middle East all the way to India. The flying will go on across India, then into Singapore and Indonesia before going to Cambodia, China, then Japan and Russia. From there we will be heading home flying across the North Pacific, crossing the date line by the Bearing straight and entering the USA through Nome, Alaska, finally back the lower 48 concluding what surely will be a spectacular adventure, one likely to bring us some challenges and occasional difficulties but one that will expand each participant’s horizon, solidify many camaraderie’s and bring a great sense of accomplishment.
